KMUTT researcher Prof. Dr. Somchai Wongwises is on the list of Global Highly Cited Researchers 2019

The Web of Science Group, a Clarivate Analytics company released its annual list of Highly Cited Researchers that Prof. Dr.Somchai Wongwises, Department of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT), has been ranked on the world ranking for highly cited researcher again, making him one of the most influential researchers in engineering field since 2017. This year, there are 6,216 highly cited researchers in 21 fields of the sciences and social sciences from nearly 60 nations. Prof.Dr. Somchai is the only one on the list in engineering filed from Thailand.

Prof. Dr.Somchai Wongwises, an outstanding professor in science and technology, the Council of University Faculty Senate of Thailand, 2008 and a recent recipient of the research chair grant 2018 from National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA) on a project of “Development of Next Generation Heat Transfer Processes for Future Economic-Driven Industries” has exceptional expertise in Thermal and Fluid Science.

Being the Head of Fluid Mechanics, Thermal Engineering and Multiphase Flow Research Lab (FUTURE), Prof.Dr. Somchai disclosed that engineering research proves to be of an immense value to the society. For instance, the project receiving NSTDA grant aims to develop scientific principles for design and improvement of heat transfer process and high-performance heat exchangers which are vital components in many industrial plants. The project will have a significant impact on the industry, especially ten industries targeted by the Thai Government under Thailand 4.0 initiative.

I am very glad that, the research output conducted by a group of people from a small laboratory has been usefully applied for further research globally by many researchers. It reflects the academic strength of my university and my country and makes them more famous. Receiving this honor is a huge encouragement to keep me moving forward purposefully in research and development
