







On May 6, 2026, King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT) held an off-site University Council meeting at the Scientific Instrument Center for Standards and Industry (SIC) Building, Faculty of Science, KMUTT.
The event featured a ceremony to congratulate Prof. Emeritus Dr. Yongyuth Yuthavong, Chairman of the University Council, who was awarded an Honorary Doctor of Sciences by Queen Mary University of London (QMUL), United Kingdom, on March 17, 2026. This prestigious degree honors his lifelong dedication to advancing science for the benefit of society. Professor Emeritus Dr. Yongyuth is renowned for his scientific discoveries and his leadership in national policy, producing work with significant domestic and international impact. During the ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Harit Sutabutr, Vice Chairman of the University Council, presented a commemorative photograph, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Suvit Saetia, President of KMUTT, presented a commemorative bouquet. They were joined by council members, executives, faculty members, students, and staff from the Faculty of Science expressing their collective congratulations.
Before the meeting session, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tula Jutarosaga, Dean ofFaculty of Science led the University Council members on a visit to an exhibition showcasing the academic excellence and social service of the Faculty of Science’s students and staff across four key areas including Student Development, Teaching and Learning Development, Distinguished Research, and Academic and Social Services.
Following the exhibition visit, the KMUTT University Council meeting was held at the Science Connect Meeting Room, 1st Floor, Scientific Instrument Center for Standards and Industry Building. Faculty of Science. During the session, the Council approved three revised programs from the Faculty of Science, effective from the Semester 1/2569 (B.E. 2569 (2026) Revision) onwards:
- Master of Science in Chemistry and Industrial Chemistry for Innovation and Sustainability (B.E. 2569 (2026) Revision): This program merges the previous M.Sc. in Chemistry and M.Sc. in Industrial Chemistry. It integrates core knowledge from both disciplines with a focus on applied industrial chemistry research. The curriculum is designed to equip graduates with both theoretical expertise and practical skills to meet the demands of Thailand’s innovation-driven economy.
- Doctor of Philosophy in Chemistry and Industrial Chemistry for Innovation and Sustainability (B.E. 2569 (2026) Revision): Formerly the Ph.D. in Chemistry, this program has been renamed and updated. The course content and instructional methods have been aligned with the revised Master’s level to ensure academic continuity and relevance.
- Doctor of Philosophy Program in Applied Mathematics (English Program, B.E. 2569 (2026) Revision) : The course content has been updated to ensure modern relevance and to reduce curricular redundancy.
