The Faculty of Engineering, KMUTT, organized the “Academic Foundation Preparation Program for New Students, Academic Year 2026” from 10–14 August 2026 at CB1301–CB1305, 3rd Floor, Classroom Building 1. The program aimed to strengthen and review new students’ fundamental knowledge in mathematics and physics before they began studying core courses in the Faculty of Engineering.
The program was organized to academically prepare new students for university-level study. Engineering education requires a strong foundation in mathematics and physics, while new students enter university with varying levels of prior knowledge. The program therefore aimed to strengthen students’ fundamental understanding, reduce disparities in academic preparedness, and help students adapt confidently to university-level learning.
The activities were divided into two sessions: Mathematics (MTH) foundation classes from 4:30–6:00 p.m., followed by Physics (PHY) foundation classes from 6:00–7:30 p.m. Each subject had approximately 200 participating students, divided into five classrooms to facilitate effective teaching and provide students with thorough support.
In addition to strengthening academic preparedness, the program provided opportunities for new students from different departments to meet, get to know one another, and build new relationships through collaborative learning in the classroom. This helped foster networking and a supportive learning environment among students from different departments within the Faculty of Engineering from the beginning of their university journey.
For the implementation of the program, the Faculty of Engineering received support from the Faculty of Science in providing 20 Super TAs, comprising 10 for Mathematics and 10 for Physics. The Super TAs served as teaching assistants, providing guidance and support to students throughout the program. Dr. Boobphachard Chansawang supervised the Mathematics instruction, while Assistant Professor Dr. Wandee Onreabroy supervised the Physics instruction.
The Academic Foundation Preparation Program for New Students aimed to ensure that new students developed a strong foundation in mathematics and physics, reduce potential learning gaps in core courses, promote a positive learning environment and student engagement, and foster relationships among students from different departments. The program also provided an opportunity to further develop the teaching and learning capabilities of the teaching assistants.
