On January 31, 2024, King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT) by the Mobility and Vehicle Technology Research Center (MOVE) along with government and private sector partners An opening ceremony was held to demonstrate the use of a prototype driverless electric bus combined with mobile application communication. With 5G technology, which is the result of research and development under “Project to build a prototype driverless electric bus with 5G technology to support citizens and tourists in the ancient area” with a budget to support research. This marks the first time in Thailand that there has been research and development to have autonomous vehicles officially running on public roads.
