On October 18, 2024, King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT) joined the mission of the Thailand Academy of Sciences (TAS) in producing and developing human resources to drive the country with science and technology. In the 3rd dimension, producing and developing human resources with high potential to support global changes (Future Graduates Platform) that aims to create and develop high-performance human resources for the country according to the needs of research institutions and to support growth and new industrial opportunities of Thailand (Demand-driven) through cutting-edge research mechanisms in collaboration with the world’s leading research networks (International Strategic Alliance). The Program Management Unit for Human Resources & Institutional Development, Research and Innovation (PMU-B) organized the Thailand Academy of Sciences (TAS) Annual Networking Activity under the concept of “Connecting High-Performance Human Resources Across Borders with University of Science and Technology (UST), Republic of Korea – Connecting Brainpower Across Border with UST South Korea”.

By Prof.Dr. NAVADOL LAOSIRIPOJANA Head of the Coordinating Committee for the Future Graduates Platform, TAS Program 2024 and Director of the Joint Graduate School of Energy and Environment (JGSEE), KMUTT, together with PMU-B led by Deputy Director of PMU-B, Chairman of the Cluster Coordinating Committee for Global Partnership, and Project Leader of the Systems Bioscience Research Group welcomed faculty members, researchers, and staff from University of Science and Technology (UST), Republic of Korea, led by Dr. Won Suk SHIN – Korea Research Institute of Chemical Technology (KRICT), Dr. June Seok CHOI – Korea Institute of Civil Engineering and Building Technology (KICT), Dr. Jae Hoon JEONG – Korea Institute of Radiological and Medical Sciences (KIRAMS), Dr. Moo Seung LEE – Korea Research Institute of Bioscience and Biotechnology (KRIBB), Dr. Young Sil KWAK – Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute (KASI), Mr. Hee Gwon KIM – Head of Admission Division (UST) and Mr. Ki Hwan YANG – Senior Officer, Student Support Division (UST).
UST plays an important role in co-producing high-performance research personnel in the form of Non-conventional future graduates that will create new skills for new students/researchers through hands-on training with experts and training skills through the use of modern tools or National infrastructure in research institutes that are partners, such as KRIBB, KIRAMS, KICTS, etc., as well as exchanging international experts to transfer knowledge and technology, which is an important part of creating high-performance personnel with specific skill sets, knowledge and abilities that can respond to rapid technological changes. This activity aims to jointly plan activities to strengthen research and development between UST and TAS scholarship researchers of NRCT, focusing on leading research issues that significantly impact the country as a whole, to proceed with creating an Action plan goal to send students to do short-term research at UST, as well as to transfer knowledge and technologies that are important for the development of the science, research and innovation system, and to exchange perspectives on science, technology and innovation between the two countries on related research issues, such as Synthetic Biology, Railway System, Astronomy and Space, AI, etc., with more than 110 participants at Crowne Plaza Bangkok Lumpini Park Hotel.
