On Friday 20 September 2024, the Research and Innovation Division, Faculty of Science, King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT), along with lecturers, researchers, and students led by Dr. PARIN CHAIPUNYA, a lecturer in the Department of Mathematics, and personnel from West Coast Engineering Co., Ltd., traveled to visit and study Eastern Sea Laem Chabang Terminal Co., Ltd. (ESCO) at ICD Lat Krabang. Ms. Marina Khammano, Operations Manager (LKB-Operations Manager) welcomed and led a tour of the work processes within ESCO’s premises.
ESCO Company is an organization that plays an important role in the transportation and logistics business sector, responsible for managing container terminals in the Laem Chabang Port area and the Lat Krabang Container Loading and Unloading Center (ICD), which provides international container handling services through operations covering both sea and land transportation, especially rail transportation between Laem Chabang Port and Lat Krabang ICD.
In this regard, lecturers and students from the Department of Mathematics visited to learn about the processes and internal operating systems related to rail transport in order to apply mathematical and computational knowledge to the creation of mathematical models for energy saving in rail transport in line with sustainable development guidelines and increase the efficiency of the transport system in Thailand.
