On September 19, 2024, the Department of Physics, Faculty of Science, King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi organized a special lecture on interesting topics about materials technology and radiation detection at the Science Connect room, Faculty of Science. We were honored to have Prof. Miroslav Kucera from Charles University, Czech Republic, give a lecture on “Garnet scintillators – material engineering by liquid phase epitaxy”, which presented the advancement of Liquid Phase Epitaxy (LPE) technology in the production of crystalline films for use as scintillator materials for radiation detection.

In addition, a postdoctoral researcher from the Department of Physics, KMUTT, gave a lecture on “Tb activated single crystals for ionizing radiation detection”, presenting the research results on crystals activated by Terbium (Tb) for ionizing radiation detection.
Both lectures were highly engaging for the participating students and lecturers, who continuously exchanged ideas and raised academic questions. This event was another success in promoting learning and developing understanding about the applications of new materials for radiation detection, which play an important role in the fields of physics and medicine.
