



King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT) participated in the 1/2025 onsite-meeting of the Sustainable University Network of Thailand for the year 2025, held on May 10–11, 2025. The event was hosted by Thaksin University, Phatthalung Campus, with an opening welcome delivered by Associate Professor Dr. Natthaphong Jitnirat, President of Thaksin University. The conference was officially opened by Assistant Professor Dr. Pomthong Malakul Na Ayudhya, Secretary-General of the Council of University Presidents of Thailand. The meeting focused on discussing strategies for advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) within higher education, particularly highlighting the transition towards becoming a Net Zero Campus and the promotion of community-based economies through the integration of academic knowledge with local contexts. The delegates from various universities also visited the university’s sustainability management systems and engaged in field visits and knowledge exchange sessions on implementing sustainability practices in partnership with local communities. Key activities included the “Living SDGs 17 Exhibition,” sustainable waste management initiatives, and discussions on scaling sustainability practices led by the Faculty of Engineering. A special lecture was delivered by Dr. Sarawanee Singthong, Director of Sustainability Policy, on the topic “University Network Initiative for Achieving Net Zero Greenhouse Gas Emissions (Net Zero Campus),” which garnered significant interest from attendees. The event strongly aligned with SDG 2030 Goal 17, which emphasizes partnerships for the goals—particularly fostering collaboration among universities to promote sustainable development.
