



From September 11, 2025, the Master’s Program in Environmental Social Sciences, School of Liberal Arts, King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi, organized a presentation entitled “Social Impact Innovators: Developing Effective Impact Assessment Approaches” (Cohort 1), as well as a closing ceremony the strategic project “Capacity and Knowledge Building in Social Impact Assessment (SIA) and Social Return on Investment (SROI)” for the 2025 fiscal year. The project is led by Dr. Ittisak Jirapornvaree. The event brought together 45 participants, including lecturers, researchers, and support staff from King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi.
The results of the operation have been submitted.
1. The “Social Impact Innovators” course aimed to equip participants with the ability to explain, assess, and write reports on social impact assessment and social return on investment at the project level, with a focus on transparency and accountability. The course was divided into theoretical, practical, and fieldwork components:
- Bang Mod Area: Developing learning processes through participatory thinking and design involving youth and families in Thung Khru and Bang Khun Thian Districts to create a collaborative learning model
- Ratchaburi Area: Studying the feasibility of using waste materials from the coconut industry as biomass fuel in the energy sector
- Nan Area: Water systems for agriculture in the Malabri community of Khwae Yan, Nan Province
2. A total of 40 participants, including lecturers, researchers, and support staff from King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi with knowledge and competence in Social Impact Assessment (SIA) and Social Return on Investment (SROI) assessment.
3. Guidelines for Social Impact Assessment (SIA) and Social Return on Investment (SROI)
Furthermore, a 2026 operational plan was presented to plan and prepare for the establishment of a network of impact assessment communities at King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi.
