King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT), in collaboration with the Office of the Basic Education Commission (OBEC) and AIS, is organizing a competition for digital well-being video clips aimed at enhancing Thai education under the project “Cyber Safety Young Creator Challenge 2024.”

On September 2, 2024, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Tanes Tanitteerapan, Dean of the Faculty of Industrial Education and Technology, King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT), together with Mr. Wisanu Sapsombat, Director of the Bureau of Academic Affairs and Educational Standards and Acting Advisor on Educational Standards, representing the Office of the Basic Education Commission (OBEC), participated in the awards ceremony for the “Cyber Safety Young Creator Challenge 2024” digital well-being video competition. The ceremony was presided over by Mr. Siripong Angkasakulkiat, Advisor to the Minister of Education, and attended by Ms. Saichon Supmakudom, Head of Public Relations and Business Relations at AIS, as well as students and teachers from 25 participating schools. The event took place at SCBX Next Tech on the 4th floor of Siam Paragon.

The “Cyber Safety Young Creator Challenge 2024” is a collaboration between OBEC, AIS, and KMUTT. It serves as a creative platform to promote content creation skills by encouraging students under OBEC to showcase their ideas through short video clips that convey messages, raise awareness, or provide guidance on responsible online usage. Participants compete for scholarships totaling more than 150,000 THB, along with trophies and certificates of recognition. The competition garnered attention from schools nationwide, with over 500 teams submitting entries. This initiative is an excellent opportunity for students to develop their talents and contribute to increasing awareness and enhancing digital skills. The content produced can potentially be used as educational material to help address cyber threats sustainably.

KMUTT played a key role in organizing the event, designing the curriculum, and creating the video production content on the platform www.fietconnect.com, the online learning platform of the Faculty of Industrial Education and Technology. The platform aims to help students, teachers, and administrators understand how to produce engaging, enjoyable, and attention-grabbing media. Currently, more than 500 schools are enrolled in the courses offered on this platform. The team behind this project includes Assoc.Prof.Dr. Sakesun Yampinij , Assoc.Prof.Dr. SURAPON BOONLUE , Dr. DARUWAN SRIKAEW, and Dr. SUTIWAT SUPALUK

This collaboration between the public and private sectors demonstrates the power of collective efforts to promote safe online practices and equip students and young people with essential skills for the future. The initiative not only raises awareness of the risks associated with online usage among students but also fosters the creation of diverse learning materials that can be shared with peers, parents, and the wider community.
