KMUTT Drives Academic Excellence in Environmental Studies by Hosting “Show & Share Atmospheric and Ocean Models” Training to Promote Sustainable Coastal Conservation in Thailand

The Department of Mathematics, Faculty of Science, King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT), with funding support from the Office of the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI), under the “Reinventing University” project for institutional excellence and advanced workforce development for the fiscal year 2025, organized a hands-on workshop titled “Show & Share Atmospheric and Ocean Models to Drive Conservation of Thailand’s Coastal.” The event was held on June 4–5, 2025, at the V Space Meeting Room, 14th Floor, Learning Exchange Building, KMUTT.

Assoc.Prof.Dr. Suvit Saetia, President of King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT), graciously presided over the opening ceremony. In his remarks, he emphasized the university’s pivotal role as a hub for generating knowledge and innovation that addresses national environmental challenges, particularly the conservation of coastal areas, which are considered vital natural resources.

On this occasion, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Usa Humphries, Head of the Research Development Project on Atmospheric and Ocean Modeling to Drive Coastal Conservation in Thailand, presented the progress of the project. She also advocated for enhanced collaboration among researchers and academics from various disciplines to foster integrated knowledge development.

The event featured the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on academic collaboration between KMUTT and Sakon Nakhon Rajabhat University. It also included special lectures by international researchers and invited speakers, along with a knowledge exchange activity titled “Show & Share.” Key discussion topics included Climate and Environment, Environmental Science, Coastal Engineering, Integrated Coastal Management, and Coastal Ecology.
