


The School of Liberal Arts at King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi, in collaboration with English in South-East Asia (ESEA), the Education, Languages, and Internationalisation Network (ELINET), and the EMI Resource Center at National Chengchi University, Taiwan, organized the international seminar titled “Doing Research in Applied Linguistics 5 (DRAL 5)” from Thursday, September 5 to Saturday, September 7, 2024, at Jasmine City Hotel, Bangkok.
Asst. Prof. Dr. Natjiree Jaturapitakkul, Associate Dean for International Competence Development at the School of Liberal Arts and Chair of DRAL 5, presented the event’s objectives, followed by a welcome address from Asst. Prof. Dr. Sasitorn Suwannathep, Dean of the School of Liberal Arts. The event was officially opened by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Suvit Saetia, President of King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi.
The seminar featured distinguished keynote speakers: Dr. Lionel Wee Hock Ann from The National University of Singapore, Prof. Eric Friginal Hu from Georgia State University, USA, Dr. Nicola Galloway from University of Glasgow, USA, and Prof. Siaw-Fong Chung from National Chengchi University, Taiwan.
The primary aim of this event was to provide educators and graduate students the opportunity to present their research and exchange knowledge on applied linguistics research from both Thailand and abroad. The seminar was attended by 97 participants, including faculty members, researchers, and students from Thailand and other countries.
