KMUTT, with Support from PMU-B and Consortium Partners, Launches Advanced Training Program to Develop Thailand’s Energy Workforce for the Clean Energy Transition and Strengthen National Energy Security

          On July 2, 2026, in Room MR 106, 1st Floor, Queen Sirikit National Convention Center (QSNCC), King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT), through the Joint Graduate School of Energy and Environment (JGSEE), hosted the launch ceremony for the advanced training program titled “Energy Transition Workforce Skills Programs: Advanced Training in SMRs, Clean Heat, and Hydrogen Technologies.” Assoc. Prof. Dr. Suvit Saetia, President of KMUTT, delivered the welcoming remarks, while
Dr. Rattapoom Tuchinda, Deputy Director of the Program Management Unit for Human Resources & Institutional Development, Research and Innovation (PMU-B), delivered the opening address. Executives and representatives from relevant agencies also attended the ceremony.

          Following the opening ceremony, keynote lectures were delivered by representatives of the organizations involved in developing the training program. Additionally, a panel discussion was held to exchange perspectives among representatives from various sectors. Key discussion topics included:

  • Workforce Readiness: Preparation for workforce skill development and essential future skills;
  • International Collaboration: Thailand’s readiness to collaborate with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA)
  • Technology Adoption: Supporting the efficient application of nuclear technology
  • Global Insights: Lessons learned from nuclear energy implementation and workforce development support in the US and their adaptation to Thailand
  • Industry Perspectives: Essential future skills for the clean energy industrial sector from the viewpoint of energy organization representatives.

          The training program “Energy Transition Workforce Skills Programs: Advanced Training in SMRs, Clean Heat, and Hydrogen Technologies” is a collaborative effort among academic, public, and private sector organizations involved in the energy domain. With JGSEE, KMUTT serving as the project leader, the initiative is implemented in cooperation with:

  • Chulalongkorn University (through the Department of Nuclear Technology, Faculty of Engineering)
  • The Office of Atoms for Peace (OAP)
  • The Thailand Institute of Nuclear Technology (Public Organization) (TINT)
  • The National Energy Technology Center (ENTEC), NSTDA
  • H2Technology LLC, USA

          This joint initiative was established to develop and deliver this specialized skill development training. Funded by PMU-B, it is a certified Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) training curriculum designed to address workforce skill development demands for targeted industrial sectors (STEMPlus), as accredited by the Office of National Higher Education Science Research and Innovation Policy Council (NXPO).
