“Press Conference Ceremony for the Launch of Phase 2 of the 2025 Project on Expanding the Development of Vocational Potential for Persons with Disabilities in Sa Kaeo Province”

The Disability Service Center of Sa Kaeo Province, the Office of Social Development and Human Security of Sa Kaeo in collaboration with King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT)—with funding support from the Fund for the Promotion and Development of the Quality of Life of Persons with Disabilities—has moved forward from the successful completion of Phase 1 into Phase 2 of their initiative. The official launch of this next phase was announced at a press conference held on April 21, 2025, at the Sa Kaeo Provincial Administrative Organization in Mueang Sa Kaeo District, Sa Kaeo Province.

On behalf of the President of KMUTT, Dr. Ornkanyanee Liang-Itsara, Assistant to the President for Lifelong Learning, attended the event. Representing the Governor of Sa Kaeo, Ms. Kanokwan Singkal, Provincial Social Development and Human Security Officer (SDHSO), presided over the ceremony. They both firmly declared their shared commitment: to create opportunities and ensure sustainable development, positioning Sa Kaeo as a “model province” for enhancing the quality of life of people with disabilities in Thailand. People with disabilities must have a better quality of life—they must have jobs, earn income, and be able to support themselves.

This project builds on the “KMUTT Training and Internship Program for Persons with Disabilities,” which began in 2014. It now expands into a higher education network initiative aimed at enhancing the capabilities of people with disabilities through tailored training and internship programs that align with local labor market demands. In its first year, the initiative aims to provide opportunities for 300 individuals with disabilities nationwide. The event also featured a variety of activities, including the presentation of honorary certificates to organizations that supported the first phase of the project, registration of individuals holding disability ID cards for upcoming training sessions, performances by graduates of the initial program, and a dedicated booth showcasing the KMUTT training and internship project, staffed by experienced personnel.
