KMUTT – BIOTEC – NSTDA – SCELSE partners to organize the HANDS-ON WORKSHOP on “Metagenome Analysis and Microbial Genome Sequencing by Oxford Nanopore Technology”.
Date: June 17-21, 2024
Venue: KMUTT Bang Khun Thian Campus

Systems Biology and Bioinformatics (SBI) Pilot Plant Development and Training Institute (PDTI) King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT) National Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (BIOTEC) National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA) and Singapore Center for Environmental Life Sciences Engineering (SCELSE), Singapore. Co-organized the Metagenome Analysis and Microbial Genome Sequencing by Oxford Nanopore Technology workshop between 17-21 June 2024 with the objective of transferring knowledge and understanding about DNA genetic sequencing and metagenome studies with Oxford technology. nanopore, application of oxford nanopore technology in studying microbial groups that plays a role in the health of humans, animals, plants, and the environment in the condition of interest Including for attendees to gain knowledge and understanding in using computer related programs. with data analysis from oxford nanopore technology along with real data analysis practice

Speakers by ASSOC.PROF.DR. SUPAPON CHEEVADHANARAK KMUTT, Dr.Rohan Williams, Dr.Irina Bessarab, Ms.Krithika Arumugam Singapore Center for Environmental Life Sciences Engineering (SCELSE), Singapore and Dr. Thidathip Wongsurawat, Official Bioinformatics Unit Doctor, Research Department, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital Mahidol University

At the event, participants will learn principles related to sequencing using oxford nanopore technology, both theoretical and practical. Starting with preparing genetic material, DNA, sequencing the genome and metagenome. and analysis of genome and metagenome DNA sequence data. This helps develop the potential and abilities of teachers, students, and researchers in Thailand in the field of High-throughput DNA Sequencing with oxford nanopore technology, promoting the exchange of knowledge. and create a network of cooperation in research in the field of genome studies and metagenome studies using Oxford nanopore technology between the research teams of the R.O.B., project participants. and lecturers from the Singapore Center for Environmental Life Sciences Engineering (SCELSE), Singapore. This will create cooperation in research work both nationally and internationally. and also pushing for research results leading to the development of new innovations quality in the future
