




On Tuesday, February 18, 2025, KMUTT’S Welding Research and Consulting Center, led by Assoc.Prof.Dr. Bovornchok Poopat, Head of the Research Center, and Dr. Somporn Peansukmanee, Head of the Department of Industrial Engineering, along with the working group from the Institute for Scientific and Technological Research and Services (ISTRS) at King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT), collaborated with the Rail Technology Research and Development Agency (Public Organization) or RTRDA to organize a Technical Hearing meeting on the draft standard for rail welding repair of railhead surfaces. The meeting took place at the Four Rivers Room, Ramada Plaza by Wyndham Bangkok Menam Riverside Hotel, and was also conducted online via Zoom Cloud Meeting.
The objective of this meeting was to review the development approach for the railhead surface repair welding standard, ensuring both technical accuracy and practical applicability. The meeting was honored by the presence of Dr. Sathian Charoenrien, Chairman of the Working Group and Advisor to RTRDA, who led the discussions. Experts from the railway industry also participated, sharing insights and perspectives.
This project, aimed at developing a rail welding repair standard, is part of a broader initiative to enhance welding standards in alignment with international benchmarks, emphasizing safety, efficiency, and sustainability, which are key pillars in advancing the country’s railway system.
