On January 29, 2024, the Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Science held the opening ceremony of the workshop project on South East Asian Crystallographic Overview And Systematic Training 2024 (SEA COAST 2024) at the V Space Auditorium, Learning Exchange (LX) Building, King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi.
It was honored by ASSOC. PROF. DR.SUVIT SAETIA, President, to open the project, Dr. KANYAWIM KIRTIKARA, Senior Vice President for Research and Innovation, gave a welcome speech, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tula Jutarosaga, Dean of the Faculty of Science. Reported on the project objectives along with Dr. Ruslan Sanishvili, representative from the APS Synchrotron Center, USA. Introducing the SEA COAST 2024 project curriculum, this time organized for the third time in collaboration between the Department of Chemistry, Dr. Ruslan Sanishvili, APS Synchrotron Center, United States, Dr. Ronan Keegan, CCP4 Center, United Kingdom, and Dr. Garib. Murshudov belongs to MRC-LMB, United Kingdom. The objective is to expand knowledge and new technology. in protein X-ray crystallography to graduate and doctoral students A new generation of researchers and professors in both the public and private sectors from Thailand and Southeast Asian countries. who are interested or have a background in protein X-ray crystallography To have the opportunity to learn both theory and practice using specialized software one-on-one with experts. Participants will learn the theory of protein crystal structure formation. protein crystallization Synchrotron working principle Practice shooting and collecting X-ray results on crystals (data collection) with the Diamond Light Source synchrotron center, United Kingdom. Practice analyzing and solving protein structures with various software. recording protein structures in the Protein Data Bank (PDB), molecular graphics, CryoEM, Neutron Crysallography and bioinformatics principles. In the SEA COAST 2024 project, lectures were given by a total of 23 speakers from the United States. United Kingdom, Germany, Sweden, Spain, Netherlands, Switzerland and Thailand.
