In response to Thailand’s commitments under the Paris Agreement, which aims to limit global temperature rise to no more than 1.5°C, the country has advanced the development of the draft revised National Climate Change Master Plan (B.E. …). The plan outlines a national direction for reducing greenhouse gas emissions and strengthening climate resilience in a sustainable manner.
To support this effort, the Department of Climate Change and Environment organized a public consultation on the draft plan on 7 July 2025, from 09:00 to 13:00, at Pullman Bangkok King Power Hotel. The consultation was led by Asst. Prof. Dr. Passanan Assavarak and Dr. Ittisak Jirapornvaree from King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi, who serve as project advisors. The event was also supported by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ).
The consultation provided a platform for stakeholders from the public and private sectors, academia, and civil society to share their perspectives and suggestions to enhance the draft plan. Discussions focused on ensuring that the plan is comprehensive—addressing issues across energy, agriculture, water, public health, tourism, and human settlements—while aligning with the Sustainable Development Goals and the rapidly evolving global climate context.
This revised master plan is expected to serve as a key instrument to guide Thailand toward achieving carbon neutrality and net-zero emissions with efficiency and broad-based participation.
