King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT) hosted the “KMUTT Global Connect” networking event under the theme “Academic Careers and Research with Impact” on Monday, September 7, 2026, at Imperial College London (South Kensington Campus).
The special discussion and networking session aimed to engage Thai scholars, researchers, and students in the United Kingdom interested in career prospects, technological advancements, and collaborative research in Thailand. Key session topics included: Career Path of Academia in Thailand, Should You Wish to Pursue It; What Other Paths for You After PhD; and Technology and Industrial Trends in Thailand. The discussion was led by a KMUTT delegation, including Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chawin Chantharasenawong, Vice President for Internationalization, together with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Asawin Meechai, Associate Dean for International Affairs, and Ms. Phattaree Subphachaisirikul, Director of the International Center for Engineering.
The event provided a strategic platform to build meaningful global connections, discuss post-doctoral career pathways, and strengthen the network of Thai researchers in the United Kingdom, while exploring future academic and industrial collaborations. In line with these objectives, the session brought together Thai researchers and scholars from Imperial College London and University College London (UCL). The gathering highlighted strong enthusiasm among young Thai talent to contribute to Thailand’s academic and industrial growth, as well as a keen interest in pursuing academic careers at universities and research institutions.
