HyNAE students won the project day Innovation Awards
On 26th May 2017, the 4th year students from the department of Tool and Materials Engineering, KMUTT, namely Thamolchanok Sakuldeemekiat, Natchaya Luamsri, and Thayawan Pumpant, won the “Project Day 2017” Innovation AWARDS. The event was organized by the Faculty of Engineering, KMUTT under the theme “The 5th TME Symposium on Tool and Materials Engineering”. The project was entitled “The effect of vanadium dioxide on chromism, light and heat reflection of polyvinyl chloride films” and was co-supervised by Assist. Prof. Dr. Manisara Phiriyawirut and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Jatuphorn Wootthikanokkhan.
In this work, a kind of thermochromic films based on vanadium dioxide (VO2) mixed with poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC) were developed. It was found that, by using this film, an interior temperature behind a PVC/VO2 (4wt%) coated window in the the model was decreased for up to 8 °C, comparing with that behind the bare window. Hence, the above composite films could be occupied as thermochromic smart glass for building application.
