Getting to know KMUTT
On 7th March 1998 an act of registration announced in the Royal Gazette meant that the former name of King Mongkut's Institute of Technology Thonburi changed to be King Mongkut's University of Technology Thonburi.
The act also set KMUTT up as a semi-autonomous university, responsible for its own planning, budgeting and management, though still accountable to the government.
KMUTT aims to be a high-ranking research university among Asian universities. Our main objectives are to produce undergraduate and graduate students in technological fields, conduct research into high technology and transfer new technology to private industry and business.
Finally we are proud to say that KMUTT has been consistently developing for more than 40 years.
Firstly we offered only vocational diplomas under the name of Thonburi Technical College, but now we are producing undergraduates and graduates in the fields of engineering and science. We use the name of the father of science in Thailand, King Mongkut, as our university's name and to inspire us to become a leader among regional universities.
